Designed by Lotto, this jersey is not just a football garment, but a pop culture monument and one of the most beautiful, revolutionary, and recognizable designs of all time. It was the main skin with which debutant Croatia crowned itself the great revelation of the France '98 World Cup, achieving a historic third place.

The jersey broke traditional molds by reinterpreting the classic checkerboard (šahovnica) of the national coat of arms. Instead of covering the entire shirt symmetrically, Lotto designed a spectacular visual effect where the white and red squares faded towards the pristine white color on the right side, simulating a flag waving in the wind. The garment was completed with an elegant white V-neck with red and black trim, and the textured crest in the center of the chest.

It was the sacred armor with which the Balkan country presented itself to the world with pride and masterful football, immortalized by the 6 goals of Golden Boot winner Davor Šuker (including the wonder goal against Germany in the quarterfinals and France in the semifinals), the class of Zvonimir Boban, the talent of Robert Prosinečki, and the grit of Mario Stanić.
