Designed by Nike, this jersey marked the beginning of a revolutionary era as the American brand's first design for the Azzurra, breaking with tradition by completely removing the national flag's colors in pursuit of absolute minimalism. The elastic featured a vibrant and classic azzurro blue crafted from a high-tech smooth, matte fabric, whose great appeal lay in its elegant and impeccable white polo collar with a thin blue line, matching the sleeve cuffs. With the traditional three-star crest on the chest and the iconic embroidered white "Swoosh" (which generated much debate at the time for breaking classical sobriety), it was the transitional kit with which Italy secured its qualification for Euro '96, immortalized by the genius of Gianfranco Zola, the scoring instinct of Pierluigi Casiraghi, the class of Paolo Maldini and the first international flashes of a young Alessandro Del Piero.
