Designed by Adidas for the France '98 World Cup, this jersey marked the return of the national team (then composed solely of Serbia and Montenegro) to the biggest stage after years of international sanctions, becoming an instant classic of the late nineties. The kit featured a very elegant deep navy blue on a high-tech matte fabric, whose main distinguishing feature was the retro-inspired white polo collar with crossed laces, a detail that provided enormous class. Adidas' three stripes ran across the shoulders in white, and the sleeve cuffs incorporated thin lines with the national flag colors. With the new federation emblem on the chest, this imposing armor was the skin with which the Balkan team reached the round of 16, immortalized by the midfield hierarchy of Dragan Stojković (in his last World Cup), the lethal goal-scoring instinct of Predrag Mijatović, the talent of Dejan Savićević, the power of Darko Kovačević, and the free-kick missiles of Siniša Mihajlović.
